Karla Ortiz

General Manager

Karla Ortiz was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Denver from Washington, D.C. She graduated from Marymount University with a degree in Health Fitness Management & Health promotions, and worked for several years as a wellness contractor. After receiving a call from an old friend, Karla pivoted her career path and began bartending in a 1920’s speakeasy-style bar in Old Town Alexandria, The Bar PX. Karla began to develop her craft in classic and modern cocktail making, and quickly developed a passion for hospitality. Karla continued to develop her craft for creating beautiful, balanced cocktails at several establishments in the D.C. area, including Chez Billy Sud, a lauded restaurant known for authentic French cuisine and an extensive wine program.

Karla was offered a position at Highland Tap & Burger in 2015. She continued on with the Tap & Burger Concepts family as a bartender at Bar Dough, where she provided her guests with memorable, special dining and drinking experiences.

Karla brings dedication, experience and enthusiasm to her role as Señor Bear’s General Manager. Her keen eye for detail, compassionate nature and dedication to her team make her a natural leader, and we are so happy to have her at the helm at Señor Bear.
